fall update - 10/12/2007
I have enjoyed playing some interesting shows as of late. It was fun to perform in the United States of America this summer and Calgary this past weekend. Good music and peeps all around!
Working on a follow-up to "Standing on a Hummingbird". It will be out on Anticipate sometime in 2008. I also just completed a remix for Faunts, a great band out of Edmonton. The remix album will be released sometime soon on NYC's Friendly Fire Recordings. Other than that there's some collaborative work that will soon be under way. More on that later.

If you look to your left you'll notice the new menu item WORLD BOOK. It's a blog site that is dedicated to all things surrounding my creative output and anything that I find fascinating, funny or just plain odd. So go check it out as I'll be updating it on a regular basis (a few times a week). There'll still be the regular news updates at fieldsawake.com, however, WORLD BOOK will go into much more detail!! summer update - 06/30/2007
On July 28th a double CD of Machinefabriek remixed entitled Kruimeldief will be released. I had the opportunity to remix the track Stofstuk. Some of the other artists include Alva Noto, Peter Rehberg, Mitchell Akiyama, Xela, Greg Haines, Chris Herbert, Kim Cascone, Lesser, Freiband, etc...
Aside from that I'll be performing live in Calgary late August w/ a few other Calgary artists and possibly a few live performances in the USA. Check the live section for updates. I'm about to begin recording my 2nd full-length, to be released on Anticipate sometime in 2008. Which if you haven't visited lately you should! Morgan Packard along w/ visual artist Joshue Ott have just released Airships Fill the Sky/Unsimulatable a double CD and DVD set. Check it out!

The kind folks at Boomkat have named it album of the week, referring to it as a true classic in the making for all lovers of fragile music. Thought I'd let everyone know that I have recently signed w/ NYC based label, Anticipate. My new album, Standing on a Hummingbird, is now finished and will be released on February 19, 2007. A new artist collective called Papercastle is hosting an event at the Orange Hall, 10335 - 84 Avenue, in the Strathcona area on Saturday, December 9th. I'll be performing at around 8 pm. There will be some other visual artists who will have their works on display for the launch of this important new collective.

I'm currently collaborating w/ a number of other FAVA artists on a multidisciplinary installation piece for the Works Art and Design Festival. The piece will be running from Wednesday June 28th - Thursday June 29th at Churchill Square. It'll begin around 11:00 pm.

Lane Arndt's new trio will be playing at the Four Rooms - Suite 137 Edmonton City Centre (101 St & 102 Ave) - from Thursday May 18th to Saturday the 20th. He'll be leading from his guitar and laptop w/ Gavin Dunn on pedal steel/electric and Scott Davidchuk on vibes/snare and kick. I'll be sitting in on the 2nd of 3 sets on Saturday the 20th. It starts at 9 pm.

Lots to tell. No live performances at the moment. I'm currently working on new material for both a solo and Fields Awake full-length. They'll most likely be released in 2007. Check back soon as to what labels will be releasing the new material. More to tell at a later date.

I just finished the score for aAron munson's short film, Not So Natural. It'll be touring Canada w/ Prairie Tales including numerous shorts from western Canadian filmmakers. Watch for it at independent cinemas across Canada and the US.
